 PVOC Certification
Certification Overview
To ensure the quality of imported products and to protect the health and safety of Kenyans and the environment, it must comply with Kenya's technical regulations and mandatory standards or approved equivalent standards. KEBS- Kenyan government statutory body, is responsible for setting and implementing standards for imported and domestic products. As imported commodities, Pre-Export Verification of conformity to Standards is required and referred as PVoC scheme. All goods under  PVoC scheme before shipment must obtain a certificate of conformity (CoC) issued by the KEBS authorized organization. At present, the authorized certificate bodies only have SGS, ITS, BV and CCIC, four institutions in total. PVOC has three kinds of certification modes:

Mode A: Product testing and inspection
Product samples from each batch of exported goods shall be tested prior to shipment or provide test reports or certificates from accredited laboratory, and have pre-shipment inspection.

Mode B: Product Registration
Exported products with high frequency shipment and similar stable quality can be registered. The registered certificate is valid for one year, which can exempt from the mandatory testing of each batch, and only require pre-shipment inspection.

Mode C: Product License
For registered exported products with high frequency shipment, the manufacturer can apply for product license if meets the requirements in the long term. It requires product testing to assess whether comply with Kenyan standards, meanwhile the manufacturer need site assessment and then obtain the license. Goods with a license can exempt from pre-shipment inspection when exporting, and only need production supervision for enterprises and random inspection for cargo.

Application Flow
1.     Clients prepare samples and references for Waltek.
2.     Waltek conducts the test and issues test report
3.     Clients choose certification mode based on their own situation
4.     After pass the inspection, apply CoC from certification body 

Certification Mark
1.     General requirement : The following information must be displayed clearly, not easily to remove;
(a) Manufacturer’s name and/or registered trade mark
(b) Country of origin
Specific requirement according to different product standard，The following information must be displayed clearly, not easily to remove;

 -Name of the product
 -Model/type
 -Batch No. / Lot No.
-Manufacturing date
 -Expiry date
-“best before” date
 -Net content
 -Active ingredients content
-List of ingredients in descending content
-Rating for electrical products
-Size
-Fiber content and proportion
-Handing requirement
-Storage condition
-Precautionary measures (if any)
-Instruction for use
