This eighth edition IEC 60598-1:2014 cancels

This eighth edition IEC 60598-1:2014 cancels and replaces the seventh edition IEC 60598-1:2008 published in 2008.This edition constitutes a technical evision and includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
  • a) requirements to support the construction methods for new LED luminaires entering the market;
  • b) photobiological requirements extended;
  • c) more precise requirements for insulation between different types of electrical circuit;
  • d) other general updates and improvements. (Such as: External cables of Class III luminaires or SELV circuits in luminaires, or those used for SELV connections between parts of other luminaire types, with a maximum rated current not exceeding 2 A, may have a cross-sectional area not less than 0.4 mm2; Connection to protective earthing of the luminaire via the built-in control gear is not allowed; No values of creepage distances and clearances are specified for working voltage below SELV 60 V d.c. as the test voltage of Table 10.2 is considered sufficient; and so on)

Schedule of amended subclauses containing more serious/critical requirements which require products to be retested when updating product certification from the previous edition of IEC 60598-1 (retesting may not be
